附条件释放（conditional discharge） 与无条件释放（absolute discharge）相似，因为在两者中法院都会作出有罪裁定（finding of guilt），但不会登记定罪记录（no conviction is registered）。
两者的主要区别在于：附条件释放要求罪犯遵守特定条件，这些条件通常包含在缓刑令（probation order）中，以供遵守。
